Over the course of the weekend, residents learned how to formulate a plan for maintaining their historic homes, and gain valuable information about the local resources, both public and private, that can help them achieve their goals. Conference participants also received reference binders with specific recommendations on how to be good stewards of their historic structures. Copies of this manual can be ordered through either the RAP or SPAR offices.
Lecture tracks helped to focus the diverse interests of conference attendees: 1) new and future district residents, 2) existing homeowners, 3) do-it-yourself-ers, 4) preservation enthusiasts, and 5) contractors.
We also offered a full-day workshop for contractors and other professionals in the building industry to reinforce preservation standards and profitable business practices. With your generous support, Restore Jacksonville became a fun and effective way to foster enthusiasm for the beauty and value of properly achieved historical preservation.
